Early morning hike in the Phoenix Preserve. Getting ready to head out of town but I wanted to get something short in before I headed off. Got to the TH just before 5am with the gate already open.

The Dreamy Draw Nature Trail (as currently signed) is a very short trail; less than 1 mile, so I was going to need something more than that. Started out by doing the Dreamy Draw Outer Loop and then doing some of the use trails that feed off or its northern edge. Enjoyed checking out some areas that I don’t visit very often. You can’t go far on these side trails as they are constrained by nearby homes and the 51, but there are a lot of them. After doing the Outer Loop, I then did the shorter Nature Loop. Though short, this is a very nice trail.

Temps were great for the hike, in the 60’s. No wildlife. Encountered only 1 other hiker.
