| no partners | | Wasn't expecting to much in the way of wildflowers but besides the expected maze of granite boulders there were some surprise blooms. The brittle bush was the main show, some goldeneye, some chuparosa, and a little lupine. We had some specific rock formations we wanted to find but they weren't on today's trail. Better luck next time.
In addition to the flowers, they of course were attracting some butterflies: pipeline swallow tails ,queens, clouded sulfurs, a red admiral, a snout. I didn't get any good pics, they were all pretty busy.
One of the more unusual occurrences was "getting run off" the trail by three women with two donkeys in the mix moving at a pretty good clip, yelling "gee", "haw". Safe to assume there was some training happening. Otherwise a more common experience was stepping off the trail for the trail bikes. Plenty of those, but we all got along.
There was one hummer who was getting a little frisky, courting a special lady friend. |
