| no partners | | This was a hike in La Paz County to the summit of Ibex Peak (elevation of 2,814 feet and prominence of 1,067 feet), which is in the Plomasa Mountains.
I had to drive a fairly rough dirt road for a few miles to get to my TH. I was barely going 5 mph most of the way.
I hiked on a couple of old mining roads for about 1/2 mile,and then made a steep, loose climb to the summit. Once leaving the road most of the hike was class 2, with a bit of class 3 climbing out of a gully to get below the summit block. The class 3 wasn't bad, although one place was a tad airy.
The combination of steepness and looseness slowed me down quite a bit, and it was worse on the descent than the ascent. There were great views at the summit so I hung out there for a bit before heading back down.
I was glad to get this hike done. The class 3 part was kinda fun, but the steep, loose class 2 not so much. |
