| no partners | | Parked on Oakridge Dr in Corona. Pretty straight-forward ascent, just follow the super steep trail/road. There are no switchbacks and it's literally straight up the whole way. Two hairy sections: first one gained 110ft in .05 mi, second gained about 350ft in .2mi. These sections were incredibly slippery - very tedious on the way down. Basically came down on all fives for the first one.
Views were exceptional today. The skies were full of puffy clouds and the breeze kept the bugs away for most of the trek. The Big Three mountain ranges were shrouded in haze so I spent most of the time looking at Corona and the rest of the bottom of the Inland Empire. Spent a lot of my childhood in Corona so it's cool to see it from up high.
Someone placed a wildlife camera right off the trail about halfway up. I waved on the way up and did my best Happy Gilmore bull-riding impression w/my trekking poles on the way down. |
