| no partners | | Hiked Airport Loop Road with the family + Dad as part of our post Thanksgiving adventure.
Technically we started out doing airport loop but after doing the initial descent, and seeing some of the slightly sketchy areas the grandparents would have to traverse, we re-routed to some other local connecting trails.
The scenery was superb as usual and this trail was far enough west that getting there was not a traffic headache.
There were quite a few connecting trails in the vicinity that gave good views of bell rock and other nearby features, there was no shortage of views.
Eanáir particularly liked all the aviation activity and liked watching and pointing at all the planes coming and going (mostly small craft but one large commercial plan I was surprised could land at such a small airstrip).
It was a good hike that let us make it as challenging (or not) as we wanted. The grandparents opted not to hike back up to airport mesa but instead wait at the lower parking lot for us to retrieve the car and pick them up at the bottom.
A good option for families as there is ample (paid) parking at the mesa itself and bathrooms at the trailhead.
