| no partners | | One day, Just before new years, I thought it would be a good Idea to start hiking again. I made this my New Years resolution. I decided to make a club and invite as many people as I could. I pick an easy trail to start off on, (oh, by the way, did I mention I wanted to this every week?)Just a 5 mile hile back and forth from the parking lot to Bridal Wreathe and then back again. Unfortunatly the only girl I could get to go with me never called and stood me up. well, really there was just a miss-communication as to when we were going to leave. (uh-huh). The next Sunday, almost the same thing. Only this time I was going with or with out anybody. The night before my friend Rick called and said he wanted to go. So, off we went.......We got a late start and I was packing a back-pack with way to much water and a couple of shirts just in case, and some other useless junk I didnt even need. I was wearing these hikin boots I bought for 25.00 at K-mart. They wieghed a ton. as we were hiking up these hills that I didnt think were even supposed to be there, I remember thinking how I wish I didnt smoke. Its been since 1998 since I have been on my last hike and the same for Rick. Our last hiking experience was an attempt in going to Romero pools. Needless to say, I realized I needed to get into shape worse than I originally had thought.
Starting on the hike, it was nice and mellow. Very attractive vegitation, and in the very begining there seems to be some attempt in protecting something I think is allready dead. It has chicken wire around it, I assume to prevent the wild life from eating or destroying them. So be carefull and not disturb in case they are alive and just dormant for now. Once the trail began going uphill, It never seemed to stop. Up , Up, Up, and away we went, for about a hundred yards before we gave our smokers lungs a little rest. the next couple of hundred yard were cool. very nice scenery. I took my camera and got off a few shots in between breaths.
The views we saw were over looking the entire Tucson Valley and clear over to the west side of town were you could see a magnificant silloutte of the Tucson mountains. As We came over the second to last ridge before it goes into (for me) an unknown canyon. We stumbled across these two old woman who could have assumed to use a walker when walking around the mall or something comming back down the other way. It caught me totally off gaurd how truly out of shape I realy am. Gasping for air as I pass them I squeeze out a howdy do and continue on. ( I should have taken a picture.
It wasnt far after the old lady incident that Rick and I decided to stop and take in some view. WOW. I was quickly brought back to when I used to blaze the trails all over tucson and suddenly forgot why I Stoped going. (lazyness) while on top of this hill we figure we didnt know wich way to go. and figured it was far enough and start to head back. When we got back and looked at the map we were one small hill from Bridal Wreath. Were going back next Sunday this time were going passed.
Has anyone ever been back here, its very popaular. and there are a hundred trails. Im looking for some recommendations On wich ones. to take. I took some pics and am going to post. |
