Great area!

Views don't get much better then this!

Just be careful, it's gonna be hot! It's a full exposure hike. The pools will likely be stagnant. Don't take that the wrong way, I'd still go in a heartbeat!!!

Let us know how it goes.

Old Magic,

Could you post here and let us know the water levels, flow, and condition when you get back?

Thanks

Water levels, flow and condition of Salome Creek

Post by chihiggs »

Saw the questions posted on the water. I was in Salome on 4-14-2002. It was warm 90ish (air temp), no clouds. Water levels were low. At no place until the large ending waterfall, did water exceed the lower end of my sternum. I am 6 feet tall. Judging by various marks of water levels on some walls, the water level is way off (2 feet lower) than previous years. Flow was good, pools were not stagnant. Wouldn't recommend a jump off the ending waterfall this spring/summer. Come to think of it, there wasn't one pool I would jump into on that day....Stayed in the water but not jumping or diving. This was my first trip to Salome Jug. Can anyone tell me if it gets deep enough to dive with out the force of the water taking you much further than hoped???
