Hello Hazers,
Another year winding down. I would love to here how your year went and what Hazolutions you have for 2016. I hope you had a good year and 2016 is even better.
I had a fun year but an injury put a damper on part of it. I still got to do some awesome hikes and a lot of hikes with my son which I really enjoy. My miles are way down but I still enjoyed the year. Thanks to all the Hazers I got to hike with and the triplogs of the ones I didn't. The triplogs alone can perk you right up.
LiLD got married and I have a new awesome Daughter in Law and two awesome grandkids! Heather's doing good as well. When the kids are happy dad is happy .
I want to do a few new hikes this year and maybe get around to some new areas for me. Maybe get down south a little more. Try to get LiLD in the Canyon. Meet some more Hazers and hike with some old ones.
Cheers to all you Hazers and may it be your happiest year ever!

Normal...
Well, sure, it might be normal for me, but I plan to greatly increase this.
Third day of 2016...missed out on 6 hiking opportunities already. I did go to motel 6 last night unfortunately the devils were bested by beared men carrying big rifles.

2016:
- Thru-hike the Colorado Trail.
- Finish segment hiking the AZT.
- More 14ers and peaks.
- I still need to lose a few more lbs (~20 - 30lbs).
Check, check, check, and check.
Maybe I shouldn't set the bar so low next year? ;)
I'm talking about AEG less than in previous years. Oh, well. I am pretty happy with my privately expressed goal to get out and hike something with decent stats and that is fun, at least twice a month, and otherwise just stick around town staying in shape.
I got engaged last week, so my goals have changed. Did a long trail running race in Flagstaff in June and that's probably my final hurrah for the year.
I haven't completed either of my two goals: a 20-mile hike and a century bike ride. There's still time! I had gotten out of shape due to foot/shoe problems and a lot of sitting around while completing graduate school. I think these are doable goals.
I've done a couple of 10+ milers this summer, which is better than the 3 or 4 I was doing earlier this year. I have not been riding the road bike at all, just the mountain bike. However, a friend is coming over today to help me fix the road bike.
I just received an invitation to ride in RAGBRAI (Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa) in 2017, with a group. So, that could be a big motivator.

But gaining a hiking partner in this arrangement. So will be spending a lot of time hiking old favorites to show her the ropes.
I'm on pace to hit one goal but not hit another one. I'd set a goal to hike 750 miles this year and that ain't gonna happen. My goal of 50 total mountain summits (regardless of height) I'm going to shatter.
