West Superstitions water availability

Post by onebrownleg »

Hi all,

I feel like a total tourist lurking and now posting but I thought you all would have the best information. Planning a two night, three day trip into the Superstitions this month with my boyfriend and his son. We depart from First Water TH and hike to White Rock Springs via trails #104 and #129. We plan to camp at WRS both nights and day hike from the area on the second day. I called the Mesa Ranger District today to chat about water availability and their feedback was no recent reports, no snow, no rain, bring 1 gallon of water/person/day. I'm game to pack in my water but unfortunately, the small (ish) human accompanying us can't carry that weight.

We'll car camp and day hike if necessary but I was hoping folks on this forum might have some recent water intel. I saw posts from November and January about water access but thought it would be silly to rely on that info alone. Does anyone know if water is available at White Rock Springs or Charlebois Springs?

Thanks in advance for the information :)

Em

White Rock hasn't been reported flowing in decades as far as I know
all three majors have water now
including Charlebois which was reported within the last week via Route Scout

It's been a dry winter, stick to charley boy, labarge or maybe whiskey (I have not personally confirmed whiskey is wet, but it is fairly reliable) for planning water refills in the western sections.

Second Water Spring, although semi-close to the T/H is an option.

@onebrownleg
I saw pools of water when I was in La Barge Canyon last week. There was also water at the intersection of Second Water and the Boulder Canyon Trail.
