Coronavirus and hiking
Now that we are living in the era of "social distancing", it shouldn't be too surprising to see some hiking venues closed.
Here are a couple of examples:
* The Navajo Nation has closed all of their tribal parks: https://navajonationparks.org/public-notice/
* The road up to Kitt Peak is closed to the public...here is a pic that a friend took when he attempted to ride his bicycle up to the top: [ broken link removed ]
It would seem like hiking, especially in remote areas, would be one of the safer things that you can do...but with the frenzy that is going on, I imagine that there will be more closures in the coming days

I went with #23: Carry on as usual, or as reasonably close to usual as possible. Don’t touch strangers. Laugh at your neighbor when he pouts about not being invited to your BBQ. <— yes, that actually happened.
Stop crying and just go do the hike.

Is that being circulated by the dummies attending protests from inside their cars? Because they apparently aren't worried about anything...

@Tough_Boots
No worries. I'm organizing a counter-protest with a bus load of 1000+ people from New York City.

Re: Coronavirus and hiking
We don't normally hike on Sat. cuz we work, but yesterday we wanted to go to Seven Springs. When we approached the Camp Creek Falls parking area we were seeing the number of cars we would see on Invergordon for the Cholla TH. Truly amazing and large groups of people standing around chatting, sans any face coverings. The asymptomatic elite were in full force. Needless to say we nixed Seven Springs and instead chose the Maricopa trail across from the Bronco TH. FYI it looks a lot better than from the road and we never saw anybody on our four hour hike.

I would love to see a poll of who these knuckle-draggers are. I'm sure it's a mix of many demographics that all intersect at "low education".Alston_Neal wrote:Truly amazing and large groups of people standing around chatting, sans any face coverings.

It was a toss up of which was cooler, a puma in your home or all that toilet paper in your home.

Well with everything I have been reading about I will go back to doing things the way I have always done before. After all there is no real threat it's just an election year.

Re: Coronavirus and hiking
Being self quarantined I've had much time for self reflection, and have come to the realization that my top three hobbies are:
1. Eating at restaurants
2. Going to non essential businesses
3. Touching my face

I feel like you should win the internet for this comment. I never realized how many times I touch my face every day until I started paying attention. Dang I would like to go sit in a restaurant, order a decent meal, and have a beer.

Re: Coronavirus and hiking
This post is almost not needed since toilet paper inventory is finally starting to show back up in some retail stores. However, I've read enough posts here on HAZ from folks having trouble finding it so I thought I'd share this long term solution.

Re: Coronavirus and hiking
Well I guess I will add to this post. First of all things are really getting crazy I feel like some business are trying to take advantage of customers.
I order a new Sony point and shoot camera and paid for it and decided on the free ground shipping. Before to long a get a email from the company to address an issue with my order, what the hell is that about. Well I was told my new camera would not come with a warranty that I would have to buy one. So I cancelled the order and told them to keep their damn camera.
And yesterday I wasn't able to go hiking in the morning because my wife bought a new refrigerator and it would be delivered between 7am and 1pm. Wow that a long time to wait. Now my wife is on vacation in Tucson with a couple of her friends, one from Portland and one from Miami.
Well I get a call just after 11am from Best Buy saying they will be making our delivery in a half an hour. I told the guy that I removed everything from the old refrigerator so it can be moved to the garage. The next thing this guy tells me they will not move the old refrigerator to the garage and they will not hookup the new one. He said they will drop it off in our garage. Off course I told he not to deliver the new and cancel that order as well.
The funny thing is the wife doesn't like the color of our fridge. And the manufacture date of our fridge is April 2018. So I guess we will not be buying anything until after the virus just goes away and by then they'll probably better prices.
Ok I done complaining.
