woods canyon lake

Post by domromer »

Do you think I can still get to the lake at Woods canyon? I would like to hike around it, but I don't know if ally the forest service gates would be closed.

Nighthiker or the FS would know for sure...

but I figure the campgrounds are closed this time of year which in turn may be the parking to the lake access

though I'm sure the forest itself is still open so you may just have to hike a little further than usual due to access?

There is a parking lot just of of AZ 260 (The turnoff for Forest Road 300, The Rim Road) you can park and take the General Crook Trail back towards Woods Canyon Lake and then take the paved trail to the lake. With the weather vehicle access may still be allowed.

You can also hike to Willow Springs lake and from Woods Canyon hike to Pinto lake (large stock tank) if your navigation skills are good in the woods.
