3 days this weekend

Post by te_wa »

I have the 7-8-9th into the early morning 10th of July to do a 3 day backpack, looking for anyone with similar interests who might suggest a location (ahem, 7k' or higher?) Im looking to do a 30-40 mile loop or possible out-n-back. Im out of ideas and just plain lazy. Whatcha got?

Even at 7k it'll be in the mid 90's...
Pretty much have to hike circles around the upper Kachina Wilderness or the Kaibab plateau to really stay out of the heat.

Whatcha need is to diversify to a canyon jaunt!

ula is all permethrin'd up and ready to go, come up with something good!

Joe, (and everybody else!)
I have decided to take a leisurly kayak trip to Knoll lake for 3 days and 2 nights since my wife is out of town, (instant kitchen pass)
DesertRoux is renting an inflatable kayak from AZ hiking shack so we're going to do some fishing. Knoll was stocked last tuesday and over this past weekend a dude up there caught 90 trout on Saturday alone. 90!!
We'll be leaving Sat morn and coming back home on Mon afternoon. I have room for one more hard shell and 2 inflatables should easily fit in the back of my rig...

Freakin' awesome! Did you see my pics from Blue Ridge Reservoir? That was this past weekend. I went up to Woods Canyon Lake last night and fished all day today. The bite was slow and we came home with 6 fish. FYI- the water up there is really warm. I would put the fish on ice right away. Last weekend and today, we left the fish boiling in the water all day. When I finally got around to cleaning them, the ribs were already pulling away from flesh. The flesh seemed like it was mushy and water-logged. Gross. I'm probably going to toss them.

Knoll is next on my list of Rim lakes to visit. Pics that I saw revealed a lack of cliffs, so I had to pick Blue Ridge instead last weekend. This Saturday, Ashurst Lake near Flag will feel my fishing wrath! I'm hoping to come home with a LARGE pike. Wish me luck.
