I believe it's Perl Charles 1A that goes around the north side of Piestewa Peak. It's freaking cool in that valley. One second your right next to sr 51 and can hear the constant roar of the freeway, then you go over a saddle, and it's suddenly completely silent. Start at the Dreamy draw trailhead and loop around. Get a map from the north mountain center at 7th street between hatcher and thunderbird.

Actually, according to my phoenix mountain preserves map I got from the visitors center, the mountains you describe in your write up are not actually shadow mountain. Shadow mountain is farther northeast and has no established trails, as shown on the map anyway.

That's correct cause...
_______ is the ridge-ish string of mountains that stretches roughly from SR 51 in Phoenix north to Shea Boulelvard between Cave Creek Road & 24th/26th Streets
Shadow Mountain is NORTH of Shea, not stretching north to Shea. Also Mountain View Road accesses Stoney Mountain.

For reference Shadow Mountain consist of peaks 1779, 1845 & 1928

Thanks for the heads up.
It's all good now, I believe James was referring to the shadow of Shadow Mountain
