Sunglasses vs Depth perception?

I was wondering if anyone had any advise on a good pair of sunglasses. The ones I use now are perfect for hiking level ground but going up Flat Iron or Piestewa I can't stand to wear them despite the eye strain from the relentless arizona sun. I wear a hat and that helps but sometimes even the glare off the rocks is enough to put on some eye protection but depth perception becomes a problem. I've given consideration to perhaps differant colored lenses, yellow or something. Any advise is appreciated. Thanks in advance. Bill T.

I used the yellow lenses when mountain biking for years. With everything coming by so fast I needed an alternative to actually see what was going on. They work alright, but it kind of puts you in a super alert state.

I wear sunglasses whenever I'm outside. They're expensive, but I like Maui Jim.

I like polarized yellow-tinted lenses. The detail stands out better and green vegetation looks triiiiipppppy.

I'd recommend something that has polarized lenses with both UV A and UV B protection. Coloring of lenses is optional. Polarized lenses will help with glare and make the sky look better

Thanks for the all the good comments. I've been thinking the yellow is way to go but I really haven't seen any body on the trail using them. I'll look for the polarized then too.

I prefer color-neutral lenses, because others distort your color perception even after you take them off. You'll see purple for a while after wearing yellow glasses. Polarization is a must. Anti-reflective coating is also good to have.

Clip on polarized for over my glasses works fine for me. They do have the advantage of being able to be flipped up when the area is shady and sunglasses are not needed.

Sort of on topic here, I don't invest much in something I will likely loose, so have used drug store versions till they are scratched or bent beyond use, then buy another. This works reasonably well, but requires changing to reading glasses when reading the map or GPS. I recently noticed that Duluth Trading Post carries drug store level priced sunglasses with reading glasses bifocals in them. I had been considering having a set of such made but saw these and tried them today--they work great. Haven't noticed much depth perception problem with these or any other.

I bought a pair of cheap polarized shaded sunglasses that I've been using for outdoors activities. I had never used polarized glasses before, and they are great. The next pair I get will definitely be polarized and I had always wondered about the yellow tint to. I will probably get polarized yellow next time I buy a pair. Thanks all.
