Payson Restaurants
Leaving Monday for the week of camping below the Rim. Weather looks like it will be great. Setting up base camp and planning overnight backpack or mtn. bike camp. Looking for another place to try to eat in Payson.

Re: Payson Restaurants
I've eaten at El Rancho in Payson. It's on the west side of 87 just south of the 87/260 junction. Our meals weren't bad by any stretch of the imagination, but certainly nothing to make me forget Rigo's in South Tucson

Re: Payson Restaurants
The fajitas are pretty good at El Rancho in Payson but not as good as Chalo's in Globe.

Re: Payson Restaurants
That's my favorite place in Payson. I don't know if it's the best, since but it really hits the spot after a long hike. I really like the Beeline Cafe, too. I figure anybody who gets around as much as Nighthiker knows these places well. I'm curious about what he's already tried.Jim Lyding wrote:I've eaten at El Rancho in Payson

Yeah I'm finding it pretty hard to believe John is looking for any Payson advice period, it's like his second home!

After a long hike, the spot is an easy target.big_load wrote:Jim Lyding wrote:. . . but it really hits the spot after a long hike . . .

Re: Payson Restaurants
I always used to laugh when driving past Diamond Point Shadows ... really? Lobster in Payson? I'm scared.
And while I've never eaten there, I heard a very positive review from a reputable source.
Not to mention, I have seen the parking lot overflowing with cars for at least a decade. So it can't be too bad?
I think they might only be open weekend nights though.
Anybody actually eaten there?

Re: Payson Restaurants
EL RAUNCO is over rated I have never thought the food was good there..La Sierra Mexican is better .. Hasn't anyone tried Macky's Grill supposed to be the best of Payson every year lived here 20 years and keep forgeting to try it.. Breakfast best of Payson always goes to the Crosswind Restaurant... I have never eaten at the Diamond Shadows always closed when we have been by.... Fargo's is the place to go for steak and a little bit classier place...Knotty Pine used to be a good place haven't been there in quite awhile and have weird hours now... The Italian place is okay but not worth the price... Never go to the 260 Cafe.....

Re: Payson Restaurants
It's a bit north, but check out the Rimside Grill in Pine. The food is great, there's patio dinning, horseshoes & volleyball, and the owner is a fellow hiker who's motto is 'No Crap On Tap'!

Re: Payson Restaurants
Well, I have learned something. There is more in Payson than Starbuck's and the Beeline Cafe!
