Jackson Browne started writing Take It Easy but just couldn't finish it so Glenn Frey completed it and it was the first single released by Glenn's new band, The Eagles. (How's that for you Bruce?)Al_HikesAZ wrote:Or that corner in Winslow Arizona in the Jackson Brown song.
Further trivia...
The inspiration for a girl my Lord, in a flatbed Ford slowing down to take a look at me was actually a girl cruising by in of all things, a Toyota pickup... and it happened in Flagstaff. Probably because "Lord" and "Ford" sounded better together?
Why was it written as happening Winslow?
Later, Browne's van broke down in Winslow and when Glenn Frey finished the song he used that as the location.

Re: Arizona Trivia (added to Home Page)
This has been a great thing for little Winslow. Thousands of people stop by to take photos at the corner with the statue. Also, historic La Posada Hotel, designed by Mary Colter, was refurbished beautifully. If you have not seen it, do so--it's truly splendid!! The Turquoise Room is the restaurant in the hotel, and it's very good. You can even take the east bound Amtrak to get there for only $16 from Flagstaff, (although unfortunately the train leaves Flagstaff at 4:41 a.m.)
Mojo Café in the historic old part of Winslow, near the hotel, serves good coffee drinks and food.
Take your kayak and paddle at McHood Park/East Clear Creek Reservoir. (But not if going by train!)

I'm glad the grizzly has only been practically pushed out of Arizona. Phew.The jaguar, ocelot, grizzly bear and gray wolf have been practically pushed out of Arizona due to human growth.

@chumley
Hmm, Todd, have to assume you're bored because I went back one page, didn't find this quote, and will not take the time to go back further. I think the quote is a bit inaccurate. Grizzlies were the target of a focused eradication program, and the last one in the state was supposedly the one called "Bigfoot" on Escudilla Mountain. However, when I was researching it for a magazine article I was writing I found that records about when it happened are fuzzy, at best. And it turns out there was at least one more trapped after Bigfoot. So, grizzlies were not "pushed" out. They were eradicated because the people at that time did not want them around for various reasons.
As for ocelots and jaguars, who knows why their numbers are down? Predator hunting, poisoning, etc., coupled with population expansion are likely causes.
As for the wolves, there are more wolves in the wild in Arizona right now than there have been since they were originally eradicated by a government predator program. Last I heard there are a little over 100 wild wolves in the White Mountains/Blue Range area, part of the Mexican Wolf reintroduction program. The original wolves were not "pushed out." They were poisoned, trapped and shot. Not quite the same as "pushed out."

The trivia database might need an update.
Not so warm and fuzzy.
Uh, so Leona Helmsley died in 2007. :budrose:Paradise Valley was named so due to its abundance of wildflowers. The abundance has shifted to wealthy residents. Including Mike Tyson, Leona Helmsley, Bill Keene and Dan Quayle to name a few.

Holy cow the house is right around the corner of our good friends, as opposed to our bad friends.
So who's Rob Halford?
