On my last hike to Angel Basin via Rogers Canyon, I met a fellow who hiked down past Rough Canyon but he didn't say how far he went. Does anyone know if it's possible to hike from Angel Basin to the Salt River? I'd like to try it some day.

You definitely can; I've done a fair bit around there myself although have stopped short of completely tying things together. I think this Aussie lady did something similar recently and posted here:

@GreenBranch
From [ Angel Basin ] , follow Frog Tanks Trail #112 1.85 miles north. Turn left, follow Fish Creek 14.55 miles to the Salt River.
Note
This is a difficult hike. Arrive fit and prepared or this could get ugly.

LOL. Ugly as an old man thinking he still "has it." Thanks for the thoughtful responses.

Rogers Trough Trailhead to the Salt River?
I used to hike this route taking my 14+ age Scouts backpacking from the Rogers Trough Trailhead to the Apache Trail bridge where it intersects with Fish Creek. This was done in three days as it gave us time to explore along the way. The first time you backpack it, you may take longer as you have to backpack through some difficult areas and route finding will consume some of your time. You then have to backpack up Fish Creek Hill to get to your vehicle(s) as opposed to having someone pick you up at the bridge. You will most likely not see anyone after you hike past the ruins in Angel Basin so take along a device that can talk to the satellites if you find yourself in trouble. I would also recommend taking along a rope to help you climb down difficult spots along the way. Once you have gone through this route the rope is not necessary as you will have discovered the better choices that you have to make. The rope does not have to long, 20-25 feet will suffice. Let me know how you enjoyed it....
