Re: Simply put, what is your favorite
Though not a hike, the bike ride from work back home has to be at the top of my list. There really isn't a time I can think of where I wouldn't want to do it. Rain, cold, flat tire--- none of it really matters!
I'm not sure what my spirit animal is, but I'm confident it has rabies.

Re: Simply put, what is your favorite
If by favorite you mean pick a hike that you can only hike that and nothing else for the rest of your life, I would go with Bear Mountain in Sedona. It is just the right length for me, it is a peak, steep, good workout, use your hands a little, a little route finding, nice views, varied terrain along the hike, has distinct sections, can be hiked year round, I enjoy the location, I enjoy the drive to the trailhead (for me, typically up and over Mingus Mtn.), it is never crowded, no trudge the last X miles back to the trailhead, dining options close by, easy access, restrooms at trailhead, can combine with other hikes in the vicinity if you want a fuller day.

..and that is because you are highly influenced by the HAZ Development Team who desires as many Hike Description write-ups on HAZ as humanly possible for long term site promotion-membership contribution (participation) reasons ;)joe bartels wrote:..and not a secret

Re: Simply put, what is your favorite
Bear Mtn for me too - quite honestly my first real hike in AZ so it holds a special spot in my feet, that and almost sliiiiiiiding off the ice into a wicked deep ravine on the first hike might have something to do with it too - yeah I know I am crazy. As nicorock says too - nice extra hikes in the area and decent food/brews to be had......
North Kaibab comes in a close second......after I do Cheops I know that will be my fav - just know it.

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."
