| no partners | | Broke this into a 1 1/2 day overnighter because posted 19+mi hike. That much mileage in a day is unpleasant for me. I met a father and his teenage son and friend about 2mi in on Friday afternoon. They were unsure where to go so they decided to tag along. Turned out great to have the company. Stayed at Reed Springs on Friday night and met some really nice people there. It would be a great place to tell ghost stories around a campfire because of the squeaky windmill at night. Anyway, all the creeks were beyond full and many of the crossings couldn't be done without getting wet up to your knees. Dripping Springs wasn't dripping but gushing with a nice waterfall. I left the three guys in my group at LaBarge Spring as they wanted to camp another night. We went slow taking some pictures and trying to find creek crossings. All in all my GPS trip meter said 20.4mi (probably because of the scouting around we did.) I made it back to the trailhead by 6:30PM, right as the sun was going down. |
