We parked our car at the parking lot at the top and began our hike down from there. Took roughly an hour and 15 minutes to get to the bottom of the mountain and look for the trail. The Spring is flowing as strong as it did last year. The very first pool you come to, the one with the rope swing, is a fantastic place to relax and settle down for a bit. The water level is about 2 feet lower in this area than it was this time last year. We continued on and headed to the dam. Last year, the water below the dam was about 2 feet deep and the little pool that was off to the side of the dam was full of debris from the de-construction of the dam. But this year, the water is about 7 to 8 feet deep beneath the dam and you can once again, jump into the little pool and swim underneath the rock arch. I was jumping off the dam the whole time! We did not make it far enough down the creek to go to the waterfall, but our next mission is to trek the whole creek and find the beautiful, quiet and secluded areas that make this one of the best hikes in the state! |
