It is always nice to do the short drive up to nearly 9000 feet to escape the heat of the valley below. When we arrived at the trailhead, it was cool and thundering. This short hike is very pleasant and in shade most of the way. We went down to the remains of the old trestle, then back up the way we came. The storms stayed east of us. After the hike it was up to The Lodge for a drink in Rebecca's, which features a bar once owned by Al Capone. My pomegranate margarita was quite good! |
