| partners | | Headed out with Bob and Liz to check again. Took a counter clockwise shortcut around Peeley. Bob ate the gully walls of pain, Liz zig zagged the horrid and I took the high road to hell.
BTW... it's really not a shortcut, rather the sick opposite. I'd recommend anyone heading out there to be careful. The terrain is full on bushpush, crawl and surf. Lots of mahogany, agave, sugar sumac, live oak and everyones favorite force denied manzanita. The scrambling is easy yet the rock is peanut brittle rotten. On an easy ten foot climb both my hand holds gave way. I came across one trickle in a ravine so that was nice.
We regrouped on the ridge where it was chillier than expected due to light wind. Next we headed down to the 5800 contour then over 6012 and back up. We did pause for a moment and contemplate a Sheep Creek return before coming to our senses. The 40ft climb up was really 1k but I kept 'em informed like my good buddy and called it a Fraley Forty
Quite the day and still no sign of gpsjoe...
The good news on the other hand was we solved some of the most perplexing issues known to man. You know stuff like... the lyrics to "Toad the Wet Sprocket" "Walk on the Ocean" read in 2pt font. The deep meaning of cross-n-crown emblems. That Mighty Mouse can beat up all other cartoon characters. How a fifty year old man has never heard of the Crystal Cathedral, etc etc...
BTW... Bruce and now Bob too are lucky to have such a kind tweezer skilled friend |
