| partners | | This was a last minute replacement hike. The plan was to do Webber Mine Trail in La Paz country after we completed the Harquahala Summit.
Not having the directions to the TH, driving off road for 20 miles through some questionable sandy areas, and at one point getting the front wheels off the ground in my 2wd vehicle, I called it quits and drove down to the Lake Pleasant area.
I'd remembered that this hike was posted as a just completed trail in the late spring and thought I could find this TH. The TH was not a problem to find, but following the first portion of the trail was tough, because it was purposefully left a bit obtuse by the builder to keep ATV'ers off it.
We made our own trail around the right side of the mound (instead of the left) and met up with the trail at the saddle. Read the authors instructions at the bottom of the hike description for finding the actual trail.
The first portion of this trail is not too steep at all to the Saddle. Past that it's a fair climb to the top. We caught some gorgeous views at the top as the sun was starting to make its way down. You get the full view of Lake Pleasant from the top of this trail.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXrCWQpD0JE It appears this trail may have been expanded in length past the giant cairn, but we ran out of time to check it out.
