| partners | | I joined up with Janelle and a couple other friends for a day of climbing. My friend Ben, who had joined me on the Rough Canyon epic, came along as well for his very first day of rock climbing. He'd ice climbed before, but this was different. We met up and drove out to Clear Creek, parking our cars after the second tunnel on the way up. The climbs were pretty wet in general, but a few were dry enough to jump on. The rock is nice, but I'd like to go back sometime when it's not so moist. I'm not sure what the climbs were called or rated, but the first one was pretty awkward. The second one was a beautiful stemmy route, with a nice off-width at the top.
Unfortunately, it began to rain while we were up there, so we headed down to the cars and then drove to a friend's house. She had a bouldering wall (woody) in her basement, so we stopped by the store for some Breckenridge and Avery beers and jumped on the wall. It was spectacular! I love bouldering almost more than anything, so was really excited to do some more while on this trip. Such fun with such great friends! And my buddy Ben may have found himself a new hobby -- watch out PNW boulders, you're gonna get crushed!  |
