| partners | | It was nice to hit new-to-me trails in the Catalina's. I loved the view of Reef of Rock from the Oracle Ridge trail.
Catalina Camp was interesting. We checked out the mine in which we saw lots of flies and a bat. Down at the camp,we checked out the cabin. That chandelier and stained glass window is odd! We also found a claim documented from May of 2003. Strange to see such recent history.
The area down below the camp looked like backpacker paradise. The creek was flowing and lots of flat areas for tents.
The hike out Red Ridge wasn't so fun as things had started to heat up. I ended up feeling kinda bad so it took me longer than the rest of the group to climb out. On the way out I nearly stepped on a tiny rattlesnake! My first one of the season. He was in a small shday area and was hard to see. We'll see if I got any decent pictures of him...
We then completed the loop on the road.
The trails were remarkably clear and easy to follow. Thank you to the trail maintenance crew! |
