Built in 1927 it was the Post office, grocery and hotel. I asked him about the stone structures across the street and between our properties. He said they were fire houses for horse drawn carriages. I have the remnants of another stone structure on my property which was originally an Ice house. Evidently, a railroad used to run through my back yard and they would haul chunks of Ice off the mountain and store them in the ice house to be picked up by train. The morning started with a family walk on Ute trail to the much recommended Pantry for breakfast and some play ground time for Micah. After French toast made from cinnamon rolls I'm pretty sure there will need to be another hike today. Enjoying 65 degree temps with the family. Saw 3 red fox kits on the way home.
Added a couple photos of the firehouses |
