| no partners | | Afternoon hike that I thought would be shorter due to forecast t-storms which were all around but didn't get me. Muesli and I explored south and North Catamount Reservoirs. My hope was to make it the Crags, but it was not to be. Made a left at the Blue river portion of ring the peak and took the Mackinaw trail along the north side of North Catamount reservoir. Saw lots of deer and Elk today. Flowers were frequent along the entire trail. Looks by my estimation that doing a pikes peak loop from my place to the crags and down Barr trail to the camp and home would be about 32 miles and somewhere in the 9-10000 Aeg range. I think I'll start with the Barr trail. 
I dropped down into the notch and my wife picked me up because the storm was moving rapidly up the pass. Got home and watched the 3rd evening in a row of t-storms and much needed rain blow through. It's pretty amazing how much greener everything is this time home. |
