My time atop the butte was short lived thanks to some persistent yellow jackets. Most of the time I was walking/running in circles trying to avoid them, but it was no use. On the brightside, the few times that I was able to stand still and look at Shasta were fantastic. On the brighter brightside, Panther Meadows also provided an out-of-this-world view of Shasta's glory.
