It was a pleasant afternoon with big white clouds floating in an AZ blue sky. My route quickly exited the park on an unofficial but well traveled trail that provides a short cut to Skull Mesa. I didn't have the time or energy to head for Skull Mesa so did some poking around off trail looking for signs of ancient Indian habitation - didn't find any although I was a short distance from a hill top where I have previously found some interesting pottery shards. Managed to get a large Teddy Bear Cholla puff ball stuck on the side of my boot. Several of the barbed spines went through the boot and stuck the side of my foot. Quite painful but I was able to pull the puff ball off without breaking off any of the spines in my foot so all was good. |
