| no partners | | I was intending this to be a quick exercise hike, but after a half mile, I started exploring some washes instead. (A lady I met on the trail last month claimed there are some indian ruins near the ranger station; I was skeptical, but figured why not check?) Instead of anything interesting, I started finding garbage. Not all in one place, but here and there. Once I picked up one piece of garbage, I couldn't stop. I flashed back to when I was a private in the Army, and started doing a police call. I hauled out a plastic bottle, glass bottle (of course a Budweiser product of some sort), aluminum can, two balloons (of course), a golf ball, a kite (!), what looked like a ball of pink laundry lint, and a 2x2" bit of tire. I did not haul the two whole tires I spotted, nor the other four cans. (My hands were full.)
The brittlebush still have flowers, but the petals are beginning to wilt. The cacti, on the the hand, are blooming. |
