Now that our company has left and things are quieting down, it's time to get back to normal again and that usually means getting up before dawn and chasing a sunrise. I was sure hoping for more clouds this morning but none showed up so it was a less than spectacular sunrise. I had selected the Lost Goldmine Trail since I haven't been on it yet this year and it's just a pleasure to walk this trail through the Superstition Foothills. The trail winds through low rolling hills with lots of Saguaro and an almost continuous Cholla Forest while presenting views of the Ridgeline and 5057 high above me.

It was shortly after 0600 as I began donning my hiking gear and I already knew that I was to late for capturing the full sunrise as it was beginning to peak around Turks Head out along the trail. The sun was in my eyes for most of the Eastbound hike but the temps were comfortable, the birds were singing and only a slight breeze stirred the Jojoba bushes along the trail. I made it out the two miles to the large rock outcropping sometimes called Turks Head (hill 2822) where I parked myself in the shade of the rock and just sat down and enjoyed the morning.

The sun was just breaking over the top of Turks Head and I could make out the "window" high up on the summit as the sun was burning through it so I managed to get off a series of shots hoping one might produce a sunburst..... and yup, I got one.

I turned and headed back along the trail, the sun now at my back and the trail now takes on a whole new appearance. As I crested a low hill on the trail, I can already see a large house off on the other side of Hieroglyphic Trail basking in the morning sun. It's kind of a rude awakening to be in a remote stretch of scenic Arizona desert and there ahead of me sits someone's house. They must have some awesome views from there, but it's an eyesore from out here.

As I approached the junction with the Hieroglyphic Trail, I finally heard voices and I realized that I hadn't seen another hiker on the trail this morning. Guess everyone's going out to view the rock art in Hieroglyphic Canyon..... too bad folks, you missed the days real enjoyment. :y:

I was hoping to see more Daisy's but most are gone for the season, even the Hedgehog are withering since there's been on rain.

On every trip into the Superstitions, I find another Gold Mine. Today the mine was filled with Memories. I can not wait for the next trip.
