| no partners | | Did a lasso loop starting out from First Water trail head. Just past the Peralta Trail Junction we dropped into East Boulder Canyon and traveled upstream towards Weavers Needle. The boulders in the canyon were the perfect size for boulder hopping which made for smooth travel. I had a point identified in the GPS to exit the canyon to join up with the Peralta Trail but decided to push on a little further where we found a really nice area of cascading pools which made for a nice break spot where I refueled with a PB&J sandwich. Further up canyon we found a good exit spot and quickly located the Peralta Trail and cruised back to the trail head.
Consumed 2 liters of water.
Ate one PB&J sandwich.
Will be back for more exploring.
Trail condition note: Major trail maintenance was done on the Dutchman trail from Second Water to the Black Mesa Trail junction. Bushes, rocks, etc. were chopped/moved/graded/raked/etc. It was a little unsettling to me to see this change as I like to see things as Mother Nature presents her beauty to me, not how we as a society thinks it should be, brush and rock free (picture MSP type trails). I am confident Mother Nature will restore this area back to what she sees fitting, it just might take a little time. |
