We camped Friday night on the cliffs above Parker Canyon (always a gorgeous spot) and arrived at the Reynolds Creek trailhead around 8:30AM Saturday morning. The hike up got warm rather quickly, and with me feeling like I had a head-cold, it was quite uncomfortable. We set up camp at a beautiful spot on the eastern edge of Center Mountain, overlooking the eastern wilderness, and then retreated into the pines for a nap. Cholla dug herself a hole to sleep in (as she usually does to get the cooler dirt) and Kristen and I conked out on our sleeping pads. Around 2:30pm we were up and feeling refreshed, but with still a lot of time to kill, she read back at camp while I constructed a cooking stove with a flat rock quesadilla grilling surface on the fire ring. Around 4:30 it started to cool off and we decided to explore. Hiked up toward the peak, then came back down and explored the edge of Center Mountain. I photographed through the evening, then we cooked bean/cheese/avacado quesadillas over the fire that night. I was up at sunrise for more photos, followed by an early start back down the mountain. On the hike out we took a long break at Reynolds Creek falls, which was flowing nicely. Overall a great trip! |
