Weather was pretty good most of the day, It started out as an almost cloudless morning but by 1130 the clouds started forming around the Agazziz and Humpreys peaks, coming from the inner basin we were protected from the wind up until rising along the ridge line the between Agazziz and Humphreys saddles. As we reached the Humphreys saddle we caught first glimpse of all the people coming the other way, we only came across two people hiking in the inner basin........just the solitude alone makes this route the prime place to hike around the San Francisco Peaks Wilderness. We stayed on the summit about 30 minutes despite the cold windy conditions. The clouds made it seem like it would start raining soon but it managed to stay dry the entire day. Six of the 9 on our group made it to the summit and we made the round trip in a little over 8 hours. Its always time to hike at elevation.....Im thinking I will mix it up a bit next time and hit up Fremont peak. |
