| no partners | | | I had a few things to search for and then got distracted and ended up going through the Red Hills but not on the old trail. The first order was to look for Peg Aylor's inscription at Caballo camp and the up on Black Top Mesa to look at the Fay Ward inscription. After hiking down from BTM I hiked down to Needle Canyon and got redirected down the creek. I noticed Malapais Mountain in the distance and thought, Why not?, then decide to go cross country toward Cavalry trail instead of backtracking. I soon found on old camp, some claim markers and a prospect hole. There is also a quartz peak in there too. I had planned a trip up old squaw canyon but opted out for another day. I was in cruise mode going down cavalry trail and saw a small gila monster coming toward me. I took a few photos and continued down to Boulder trail. I first saw a few hikers enjoying the boulder creek and about half way to the junction of Second Water trail I hiked up on some naked swimmers. I stopped a minute to let the lady get some cover and then continued on. There was a large group of campers near the Second Water/Boulder Creek junction so I think the swimmers may have been with them. Once on Second Water trail I strolled to the trailhead and exited about 2pm. You never know what you may find in the Supes. |
