| no partners | | This was an absolutely beautiful hike. 75 degrees today and not a cloud in the sky. Wildflowers and other flowering shrubs were exploding with color. There was a sweet/slightly citrus scent in the air for about 90% of the hike. The wildflower bloom must have been the reason for so many butterflies. I had complete solitude on the trail other than the critters. Trail is easy to follow in some spots and requires some route finding & boulder hopping in others. The system of cairns is extensive and will get you out of any spot where you think you might have lost the trail. I started from Deer Creek Trail #45 and hiked up canyon on South Fork Trail #46 to the wilderness boundary then back out on South Fork #46. Would've liked to connect to another trail and make a loop of it but I'm easily distracted by water holes and found myself dipping into a few of them. Highlight of the trip was the millions butterflies. They were even crawling on me while I ate lunch half submerged in the creek. |
