Went on a week long sight seeing trip to the St. George area of southern Utah the first week of May with my wife and her cousin, Mark, and his wife, Judy. Snow Canyon State Park was first on our list of places to see because it was close to where we were staying in St. George. The park is named after an early Mormon pioneer to St. George and is only about 7 miles from that town. There are a number of short hiking trails and a camp ground in the park. The park entrance fee is $6 per vehicle with up to 8 people allowed per vehicle.

A short distance from the park entrance we were greeted by the view of a giant red sand dune backed by red cliffs. We stopped here for a short 1 mile loop hike through the sand dunes and up the south end of Snow Canyon then back to the parking lot. Further up the road we stopped to hike the Hidden Pinyon trail out to Hidden Pinyon Overlook. There are some really great views from this trail and if you only hike one trail in this park, you can't miss by taking this one.
