Took 3 days to do this - weekend backpack last week and then finished the last 4 1/2 miles as an OUT and BACK today. Great trail! Plenty of water out there even though it's August! Last Sat. 3 of us started SOBO at the trail head on the road that goes to Blue Ridge reservoir. We had left the Valley pretty late, so only crossed Clear Creek - BONE dry - went up the elevation and camped. There was a good tank about a mile up the road so we had all the H2O we wanted. Hiked out to Blue Ridge / Highline TH on Sat. Ran into an afternoon shower, but it didn't last long. Only issue we had was on a section that the map indicates "join the road / leave the road". There are 2 places that the trail takes you out to the road. Ugh. Caused us to backtrack, look around, second guess - and of course this was happening during the downpour. Depending on where you hit the road, there is another tank, also with lots of water. It will be on the right if you're on the road, or the left if still on the trail. But we finally find the place to leave the road and got back on track. Lots of water in the drainage north of the cabin. This morning I hit the trail by 6:30 to do the 4 1/2 miles NOBO from that same TH to AZ87 and the north end of the passage. Beautiful trail! Since Blue Ridge / Moqoi CG is open, water is available, but the elk pond also had plenty of H2O.
