We hit the trail around 8:15 0n a warm sunny morning. I trudged along the trail while the rest sped out of sight.I once agin enjoyed seeing the red rocks on the sides of the canyon. i finally reached the Weir Trail at the Wilderness boundary having gone further than I thought I would need to go. However I headed onto the Weir Trail and reached the creek in short order. I rested in the shade and enjoyed the sound of the water running. After about 40 minutes I started back. This was about 10:30. by now it was really toasty which made for a tough return trip. I hit the TH about 12:30. The rest of the group had gone ahead and my brother and I joined them at The Vintages Grill in Rimrock for a great tasting post hike meal. Despite the heat it was great to see the area again. On a side note I really felt for all the dogs who were being subjected to the hot trail on such a hot day by their owners. |
