| no partners | | Super nice day for a hike, I love cloudy weather. Started out on Bursera, then about 1/2 from the end of it, kept going west another 1/3 of a mile or so, then crossed over low saddle and connected back to National over there. East on National, then decided to go up Goat Hill. While I was up there, I could hear what sounded like someone walking on the ridge to the east of me, so I started looking and finally spotted three javelinas (the adults and a baby) walking around up there. I took a few minutes trying to get pictures of them, then headed back down. A few minutes later, I crossed paths with a hiker headed the opposite direction. I said hi to him and let him know there were javelinas just ahead and above him, then we started talking. Forty-five minutes later, we had exchanged numbers and email addresses and planned three or four hikes to do together in the near future--easy to coordinate schedules since I don't work, and he's retired. After that, I had some time to make up, so I half-jogged over to Pyramid and then down and back to the car. |
