Quick early morning hike up to the Lewis Glacier and Lewis Tarn on the South Sister ridge. I really wanted to do this portion of the hike because it had been awhile since I've been able to hang out at an alpine lake. I would have summited (I was only a mile from the summit when I turned around), but I had a 4pm flight to catch out of Medford, so had to cut this one short! Awesome hike. Great views of the Cascades. This trail receives heavy use on weekends. The large parking lot at the trailhead was completely full at 5:45 a.m. |
