The first day of our backpacking trip to Hidden Valley. It consisted of the hike from Peralta TH to a campsite near the map location of Bluff Spring Mountain spring. (We saw no sign of water.)

- We set up camp and looked for the spring
- We hiked to the west overlook to evaluate the chance of making the loop. Carlson's warnings on page 98 of the Hiker's Guide to the Superstitions are scary. I got too high on the peak and turned around.
- I hiked to the east overlook. Fantastic views down on the Dutchmans trail and points east.
