After my work-related meeting wrapped up in Lakewood, I had about 90 minutes before I needed to head to the airport. I drove up highway 6 to a Jefferson County Park called "Clear Creek Canyon." This road offers incredible views as you wind through the Clear Creek Canyon. On the north side of the road, about 10 miles west of Golden, lies Mayhem Gulch trailhead. I pulled over and hiked up the trail for a bit, then headed back down to check out Clear Creek. If I had more time, this could be a great area to explore more. The Pines to Prairies multi-use pathway is currently under construction, but will some day connect Idaho Springs with Golden via paved bike path that follows Clear Creek on the opposite side of the canyon from the highway.
