We'd forgotten how long the steep section is and were regretting having done a lower body workout the day before. Also, we noticed that there were far more possible trails on the north side of the ravine after traversing from the south to the north. One section was especially loose and sketchy and we, fortunately, managed to avoid it on the way back down by staying closer to the ravine. We had the mailbox to ourselves and saw only 3 other hikers on our way back down. Oh, whoever goes up next might want to take along a new notebook. The newest one in the mailbox is nearly full with entries. Does anyone know what the inscription is on the cement water trough near the beginning of the trail? It was difficult to make out but we thought we could read "1917". |
