I let the morning warm up a little and left a 8am. Got to the park , got set and was underway at 9am. I started out on the Slate trail enjoying the fairly smooth condition of the trail. The stands of saguaros on the hills to the north of the trail were interesting to look at. I made it to the intersection with the Quartz Trail and rested for a few minutes at the bench that was there. Then it was up the Quartz Trail aptly named due to the quartz that littered the ground along the trail. The views across the desert to the hills to the west were very nice. up past the Flat Rock Trail with good views to the east present now. Finally on to the Go John Trail where things were not quite as scenic. although it was on this section that I saw some grass that had greened up a little. Then it was on to the Jasper Trail then finishing up on the Slate. The morning was not too warm with an occasional breeze keeping it comfortable. The trails were not overly busy making for a quiet morning. The track stayed mostly smooth allowing for a heads up trek. A ggod hike with views of areas that I had not seen before. Cave Creek Park never disappoints! |
