I did this on sat morning right after the brief thunder storm rolled through. In fact it was sprinkling a bit on the trail and the breeze had a nice coolness to it. The storm must have scared off others because I had never seen the parking lot this empty on a saturday.
Trail was in great shape, traffic was low, and I saw a little snake.
