| no partners | | A warm hike in MMRP...
According to the car's thermometer, it was 113 when I started, but had cooled down to about 100 when I was done. On the drive home, I found the 70F AC temp that my wife had set to be too cold, so I raised it to 85. The air felt oppressively hot at the start of the hike, but after about a mile, it didn't seem so bad. It certainly helped that some of the hillsides provided shade as I headed up Cinch and then again for part of Scenic approaching the top of the ridge.
I did one of my regular routes there: Escondido, Shallmo, Scenic (the long way), Pemberton, and back on Shallmo Wash.
I didn't actually encounter anyone, though I did see a mountain biker heading down Shallmo shortly before I got there - it was nearly dark then. I didn't see any critters either. Towards sunset, there was some color in the sky towards Four Peaks. Later on, as it got dark, I noticed lightning too, also in the direction of Four Peaks. |
