That was a blast! This morning, I ventured out from the South Bulldog lot and made my way up to the Twin Arches.
This was a fun hike. Most or part of it is along 4x4 roads and tracks, but the hike up to the arches was pure bushwhacking heaven. I loaded the track from hikerdw and followed it off and on, but I took my time and explored this really interesting area.
I got up to Blue Ridge and hoped for a stunning sunrise over the Superstition massif, but it was very subdued this morning. Oh well, it’s still a good day when you can see the sun come up in the desert.
The arches were interesting for sure. I just love the tuff rock and the yellow lichens that usually grow on it. The path I took down was definitely much nicer than the way up. Lots of cairns marking the way. I will come back up to this area in the coming months and explore some more.
Mission accomplished – I saw the arches and avoided the crowds. I saw one group of ATVs on the road near the arches and three horseback riders near Blue Ridge. Other than that, I saw nobody at all.
