| no partners | | Started up Sunday AM around 9 to see the pictographs. The wind was pretty strong in the early part of the hike, but by the return trip had died down significantly and left lots of small gnats buzzing around.
At the spring pools the water was shallow and pretty stagnant. There was a big swarm of angry aggressive bees at the bottom pool. We avoided crossing over for a closer look at the pictographs because of the swarm.
At the middle pool we ran into a pretty large rattlesnake sunning himself on the rock shelf next to the pool. We kept our distance, got some photos of him, and watched him stalking his morning meal, a large gila monster. Pretty cool, and wished we had brought a camcorder to capture the wildlife in action.
Overall a nice and eventful trip for a Sunday morning. |
