| no partners | | I had never explored this area of the Pinalenos, until this rather chilly May day. After hiking Webb Peak, I drove down to the Clark Peak TH, and started hiking. A little ways in, I thought, I might be able to drive this in my 4wd truck, but I'd rather hike it instead. I recognized the aspen grove from RedRoxx44's photos, it was incredible. I explored the 1st logging road (interesting), which looked to be quite old. It petered out just before the edge of the world (the 2nd viewpoint). Great views there. Once back on the loop, I hiked the second logging road (not as interesting, but pretty), which came to a dead end at a small camp site. I enjoyed more meadows and more views as the hike continued.
The clouds and wind had been increasing all afternoon, resulting in overcast skies and dropping temps. On the way down, as I was driving past Webb Peak, snowflakes began to fall What an unexpected treat! Flakes were coming down hard for several miles, but melting once they hit the ground. I turned the heater on, cranked my music, and enjoyed what would probably be the last snow fall 'till winter.
This was a nice little hike, in an area that I probably would not have otherwise seen.
Big views, meadows, aspens and snow. I love it! |
